A Day in Historic Annapolis
Thursday, September 28, 2017
Experience the preserved colonial port of Annapolis, one time capitol of the United States and home of the United States Naval Academy. Learn what life was like in the 18th century and the critical role Annapolis played in the building of America.
We will start the day at the Annapolis City Dock where we will board the comfortable, Harbor Queen for a 40 minute cruise, on the water, to introduce us to historic Annapolis harbor and the banks of the United States Naval Academy. We’ll see incredible views and be immersed in maritime history and naval tales. Upon arriving back we will travel to the Blackwall Hitch Annapolis for a delicious 3-course lunch.
After lunch an experienced period-dressed guide will help us step back in time. On this driving tour, we’ll see the hidden gems, with its atmospheric neighborhoods and charming brick-lined streets. Admire colonial architecture and see the homes of four signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Governor’s Mansion, Christ Church, the Maryland State House, and more.
Next we will have the choice of staying on the bus or getting off for a guided walking tour of the grounds of the Naval Academy, home of 4,500 midshipmen. We’ll see the Chapel and Yard and building interiors when available.
